An invisible letter is a single Unicode control character that occupies space in text but has no visible glyph. The most popular is Zero Width Space (U+200B). It was originally designed for line‑break control in word processors, but now it’s widely used to create blank‑looking text fields.
To make one letter of your name invisible, simply paste the invisible letter next to the letter you want to hide. For example, typing 'J' + invisible letter + 'ohn' may show as 'John' on some apps but with a hidden space. On platforms that trim extra spaces, the letter may effectively disappear.
Zero Width Space (U+200B) is the most universal. Hangul Filler (U+3164) appears as a normal space on mobile, making it useful when U+200B shows a dot. Word Joiner (U+2060) prevents line breaks and is often accepted on Instagram where others fail.
If the invisible letter appears as a box or is rejected:
– Switch to a different character (try U+3164 or U+2060).
– Ensure you are pasting into a field that accepts Unicode.
– Restart the app and try again.
– Some platforms require at least one visible character – add a period or emoji if needed.
